Dr. James Fletcher is a board certified plastic surgeon with added qualifications from the board of Hand Surgery.  His leadership as the Directory of the Plastic Surgery Residency in his former position at the University of Minnesota speaks to his leadership, dedication and compassion for those he works with, especially his patients.

Dedicating over 15 years at his previous practice in MN, Dr Fletcher successfully reconstructed the most difficult patients and helped them to look and feel beautiful.  His work earned him the honor of appointments to Assistant Clinical Professor at the University of Minnesota in the Department of Surgery and the Department of Orthopedic Surgery.

Dr Fletcher brings that experience along with leadership, dedication, and compassion to Vanguard Plastic Surgery, pairing with Dr George Dreszer, to provide outstanding care in a warm, compassionate and comfortable setting.

Active in the most prestigious plastic surgery societies and continuing his overseas work with patients with cleft lip, palate, and other birth defects, his patients will immediately sense his personality lends itself to providing outstanding care for all of his patients.  In his former position, he was recognized multiple years a “TOP DOCTOR” in plastic surgery by the Minneapolis and St. Paul magazine by his peers.

Experience

Dr Fletcher’s trained at nationally recognized centers of excellence in medicine and Plastic Surgery.  Completing medical school training at St. Louis University in 1995, he successfully matriculated with the competitive training program in general surgery and plastic surgery at Brown University.  After completing this program with such honors as the Intern of the year, he completed an additional year at Duke University in Hand and Microsurgery.  His 11 years of medical education and over 15 years of practice experience bring the best possible knowledge and skill for treating his patients.

Winner of the Tiffany award for the best cosmetic surgery paper at the meeting of the premier Aesthetic Society for Plastic Surgeons is one of his many awards in addition to multiple publications, book chapters, invited lectures and society memberships.  His appointment as the Program Director at the University of Minnesota Plastic Surgery Residency for many years embodies his leadership and expertise in surgery.

Several overseas volunteer trips to Haiti and multiple medical missions to the Philippines and Guatemala to care for needy patients in developing nations is one of the aspects of his career Dr Fletcher feels most passionately about.
